What is TCNJ XE?

TCNJ XE Civil Engineering Honor Society is an organization that supports civil engineering students by promoting their growth through development of fundamental engineering characteristics needed for the pursuit of a successful engineering career: Scholarship, Character, Practicality and Sociability.

Who can be a member of TCNJ XE?

Sophomore, junior and senior civil engineering students at TCNJ that fulfillĀ  Membership Requirements are eligible for active membership in XE.

Can I get involved before becoming a full member?

Sophomore students with a GPA of at least 3.5 who are enrolled in CIV 251 class, and have completed at least two semesters at TCNJ will be invited to participate in XE social activities.

Are transfer students eligible for membership?

Transfer students are eligible for membership in XE after completing two full semesters at TCNJ with a minimum of 3 units per semester. The class standing that determines eligibility for membership will be based upon the GPA earned at TCNJ.

Are alumni eligible for membership?

Alumni that ranked in the upper third of their graduating class are eligible for membership. A candidate must fulfill all Membership Requirements before being inducted. Students that become eligible for membership at the time of graduation will be inducted under the same criteria as other Alumni.

When are the induction ceremonies held?

The induction ceremonies are held twice each year: in December and in May.

Are induction ceremonies open to public?

Yes; family members and friends are encouraged to attend!

Do I have to reapply for membership every year?

No; once a member of XE, always a member.

Do I have to pay membership dues every year?

No; lifetime membership dues are collected at the time of induction. See Membership Requirements for current dues.

Who are Honor Members?

Honor Members are distinguished civil engineering professionals who have made significant contributions to the civil engineering profession, the CE department and to the TCNJ XE chapter.

What is the Board of Trustees?

The Board of Trustees is chaired by the Faculty Advisor. Members are chapter alumniĀ  who are appointed for a two-year term, renewable for an additional year. Trustees function in a mentoring and advising role and replace chapter officer(s) in case of their absence or inability. They are the interface between the chapter and the professional engineering community.

What are the chapter activities?
