The following honors must be met before a potential candidate is considered for membership:
- Ranking in the top third of his/her graduating class
- Grade Point Average of at least 3.0
The following actions must be completed before a candidate is eligible for induction:
- Submitted Application Form
- Completed Civil Engineering Department service (one event):
- School of Engineering mentoring program (email us the name of your mentee)
- Accepted Students Day or Open House
- Technical presentation
- Senior project industry advisor
- Club industry advisor
- Other approved event (please submit for approval at your earliest convenience)
- Completed Community service:
- Complete at least three hours of community service (service work up to 6 months before induction will be accepted). Suggestions: local school or other community presentations, coaching a sports club, advising a community club, participation in community events (for example walks and races), food/clothes/school supplies drive, soup kitchen volunteer, animal shelter volunteer, other community volunteer, donation to charitable organization (monetary or goods, $10 for each hour of service, please document), or other approved service (please submit for approval at your earliest convenience)
- Completed a XE Fundraising Event:
- Suggestions: Organize a fundraiser at your office (cookies, candy bars),
participate in TCNJ fall fundraiser at Terhune (approximately 8 hours
commitment), donate directly to TCNJ XE to support our many programs (Venmo @TCNJXE), have your company donate to TCNJ XE. The expectation is to fundraise a minimum of $60.
- Suggestions: Organize a fundraiser at your office (cookies, candy bars),
- Documented department and community service and fundraising using the Service Activities Form
- Submitted signed Recommendation Form (waived for candidates with EIT or PE licenses)
- Paid lifetime membership fee ($90 national membership fee – Venmo @TCNJXE)
- Completed member information (survey form will be shared with you after you submit
the application)
