Andrea Welker, PhD, PE, ENV SP, F.ASCE

Dr. Welker began her professional career at Gannett Fleming in Pittsburgh, PA after receiving both her bachelor’s and master’s degree in civil engineering from Drexel University. After earning her PhD from the University of Texas at Austin, she switched to academia. She started as a professor in the Civil & Environmental Engineering department at Villanova University, where she played a crucial role in increasing the percentage of Civil Engineering Students studying abroad, directed and developed the sustainability studies minor, and co-led service-learning trips to Honduras and Panama. She continued her academic career as an Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Villanova, where she implemented multiple policies to enhance the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion on campus. She also worked with faculty to build a strong academic team to challenge students in the engineering department as well as instill an environment based around integrity. Dr. Welker has over one hundred publications, which cover numerous topics within the water resources and geotechnical realm. She is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Welker received the ABET Innovation Award for Career Compass professional development program, Drexel University Wesley O. Pipes Alumni Award, and Delaware Valley Geotechnical Engineer of the Year Award.

Dr. Welker is now the Dean of TCNJ School of Engineering, effective July 2022.
