Bring Your Child To Work Day

On April 24th our senior members hosted Bring Your Child To Work Day. They talked about the Steel Bridge project and demonstrated how to construct it. They also talked about the Concrete Canoe project, tested a concrete cylinder, and finally supervised attendees in making their own concrete mixture and a hand concrete craft to take home. We look forward to hosting this event again next year.

Homefront Diaper Drive

Our Homefront Drive ended on April 15th, and we couldn’t be prouder of our incredible TCNJ XE community that includes members, initiates, alumni, and faculty. We were able to donate just under 6000 diapers, double the goal that we set for this year, and over ten times more than two years ago! The generosity of our members is amazing and is greatly appreciated by the families in need in our community. Thank you!

Colonial Lake Cleanup Community Service

In recognition of Earth Day, TCNJ XE participated in the annual Colonial Lake Cleanup sponsored by the Watershed Institute. Members, alumni, and initiates worked hard to collect 165 pounds of litter!! Thank you all who came out on this rainy and cold day to help keep our waterways clean and improve animal habitats in and around Colonial Lake.

FPA Technical Seminar

TCNJ XE organized another successful technical seminar on 3/26. We welcomed back TCNJ alum Dr. Joseph Strafaci (2010), regional manager for the French & Parrello New England office. Joe delivered an exciting presentation on the Manhattan Avenue project that involves rehabilitation of the retaining wall and roadway along Manhattan Avenue (CR683) in Union City, Hudson County, NJ. Joe also talked about his experiences as a student at TCNJ and his post-TCNJ career. Thank you Joe for finding time to come and meet with us!

Scavenger Hunt

On March 12, TCNJ XE members, spring candidates, and potential fall candidates competed in an inaugural Spring Scavenger Hunt. Teams of students were given a list of clues and were sent on a scavenger hunt throughout Armstrong and STEM. Some of the clues were: late night hero for a price (the vending machine), love struck by lightning (the defibrillator), the place where dwarfs grind and metal shines (the machine shop) and others. The team consisting of our senior member Matt Nagy, our junior member Joey Ricciani,  our sophomore candidate Jasmyn Watson, and our potential fall candidate Lindsey Yau returned with all the correct answers in an impressive time of 14 minutes! The event was a success and we hope for it to become one of our traditions in the future.

Engineers Week Social 2025

TCNJ XE members and candidates celebrated Engineers Week with an Engineering Shark Tank competition. With the motto of “SIR ISAAC NEWTON DIDN’T DISCOVER GRAVITY IN A LAB” students were tasked with making the area surrounding lakes Ceva and Sylva more attractive to the TCNJ community. The Shark Panel consisting of Dr. Krstic (XE Faculty Advisor), Mike Steeil (the one and only), and Steve Loannidis (XE Marshal) had a hard time selecting the winning project among several very innovative proposals. In the end the team consisting of our senior members Matt Nagy, Ethan Moyer, Anthony Giorgy, and Dan Schiariti presented the winning proposal. Their project includes environmental remediation of the lakes and construction of multiple attractions such as party boat access, a zip line, an ice cream station, a bar & grill, and Nabil’s lounge and spa together with a mud bath.

Other teams that participated also presented noteworthy proposals and deserve an honorary mention:

Team Emily, Rebecca, Jasmyn and Kate

Team Joey, Phil and David

Team Zach, Jake and Max
