TCNJ XE members and candidates came together on October 9th to pack Halloween bags with coloring books, school supplies, candy, and toys for first graders in Highland Park Elementary School in Upper Darby, PA. We have been carrying out this tradition for six consecutive years, and are proud to continue helping the community through this service event! Special thanks goes to our alumna Olivia Williams (’20) for facilitating our connection with Highland Park Elementary’s teachers and students.
On October 5th, TCNJ XE Members and Candidates volunteered once again at the Susan G. Komen More Than Pink Walk. This year we helped set up for the event. Thank you to all who came out today to keep up this important XE tradition in support of breast cancer awareness month

Congratulations to TCNJ XE members David Cardenas (’25) and Zachary Pacenza (’26) for being recognized at the 2024 TCNJ Engineering Scholarships and Awards Ceremony held on 9/20/2024. Dave and Zach were awarded the Armstrong Scholar Award for the highest academic achievement in their respective classes.

TCNJ XE Alumni Association and Student Chapter organized an Alumni Networking event that took place on September 7th. The event provided an opportunity for junior and senior civil engineering students to participate in resume and interview workshops, and to ask general career and graduate school questions during the Alumni Panel part of the event. Students also had an opportunity to learn about the individual experiences of our Alumni and become familiar with the work done by various civil engineering companies. The event was a success and we hope to start a new tradition by bringing it back next year.

TCNJ XE members and candidates came together on September 4th to kick off the fall semester with our Invitation Social. We reviewed XE history and last semester’s chapter activities and enjoyed some local pizza while competing in a Family Feud game. Two days later on September 6th we participated in the School of Engineering ice cream social and dedication of the TBP monument to Dr. Allen Katz who we remember fondly.

TCNJ XE Honor Members were recognized at the ceremony with an appreciation plaque as a way of thanking them for their dedication to the chapter as well as the greater civil engineering and professional communities. TCNJ XE Chapter has also awarded a special appreciation award to Thomas Carl, TCNJ adjunct professor, for his outstanding support of our Chapter. Professor Carl has helped us consistently over the years with generous donations that helped fund a number of our service events including the most recently held HomeFront Diaper Drive.

In recognition of Earth Day, TCNJ XE participated in the annual Colonial Lake Cleanup sponsored by the Watershed Institute. Members and initiates came together on 4/20, and worked hard to collect 63 pounds of litter. Thank you all who came out to help keep our waterways clean and improve animal habitats in and around Colonial Lake.

Congratulations to our senior members Matt Palermo, Mackenzie Bosland, and Johnny Lombardelli for a memorable showing at the Concrete Canoe competition on 4/14 held at Lake Ronkonkoma. The canoe placed third in the Project Proposal category and fifth overall. Special shout out to Mackenzie for keeping a smile while bravely going down with the ship! It was a day to remember.

Congratulations to our senior members Dora Krstic, Matt Mentonis, Josh Romero, and Jill Stanton for third place overall and, for the third year in a row, first place in aesthetics at the Steel Bridge Competition held at Stony Brook University on 4/13. TCNJ was also awarded third place in lightness, third place in structural efficiency, and third place in stiffness. In addition to the official awards, TCNJ was also awarded a special spirit award for The Best Construction Noises!
