Today, TCNJ Civil Engineering students who purchased a TCNJ Civil Engineering T-Shirt wore them to show their pride in being a (future) civil engineer. We thank everyone who purchased a shirt from us during this fundraiser and hope that they enjoy their shirts as much as we do!
Many of our members participated in TCNJ’s Accepted Students Day today, helping prospective students around campus and informing them about what TCNJ has to offer. Some of our members worked as Ambassadors and Team Engineers, and others manned the CEHS table at the Engineering Student Organization Fair. We thank all of our members who offered up their time to help prospective students and their families.
We are happy to announce that our petition to become a chapter of Chi Epsilon, the Civil Engineering National Honor Society, has been submitted! If all goes well, we are expected to be installed as a chapter by mid-November 2018.
Our President, Anthony LaRegina, and our Webmaster and Fundraising Chair, Ashley Hyde, attended the 2018 Chi Epsilon Conclave in Arlington, Texas during the weekend of March 17, 2018. Both members participated in committees and meetings during the Conclave, learning about Chi Epsilon’s Constitution and Chi Epsilon as a society. We look forward to hearing all the information they have learned in order to improve our honor society as a whole. As TCNJ’s Civil Engineering Honor Society, we have been chosen to be TCNJ’s Student Organization of the Week. We are honored to be featured and promoted on TCNJ’s Student Affairs social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Since we are a fairly new organization, the exposure given to our organization by being the Student Organization of the Week is extremely valuable.

The freshmen students currently enrolled in ENG142 have been paired up with our members to participate in our mentoring program. The pairs meet once a month to discuss current topics and to ask/answer any questions that may arise. It looks like the meetings have been going well!
A couple of our members have volunteered their time to ride TCNJ’s loop bus on the weekends. The loop bus provides TCNJ students with transportation to close-by locations such as the movies and the mall. Our members worked to make sure every student was accounted for before the bus left its stop. We thank our members that participated in this service and look forward to helping the TCNJ community again in the near future.
This Valentine’s Day, CEHS hosted a civil engineering love poem competition. We split into teams and our two new pledges were designated to read their team’s poem. The contest was too close to call and Dr. Krstic decided on a tie! Check out some videos and pictures of their performances below:

Due to the removal of Armstrong Hall’s cafe, KinetiCart, TCNJ CEHS hosted a coffee sale in the morning. Tommy and Nicole helped out by running the sale before their class!
A welcome back and invitation social was held for all members of the society, including sophomore associate members and two students eligible for new membership. A donut eating competition was held between the seniors, juniors, sophomore associate members, and eligible students. Being outnumbered by many, Nick, who represented our eligible members, came out on top!
