Due to the removal of Armstrong Hall’s cafe, KinetiCart, TCNJ CEHS hosted a coffee sale in the morning. Tommy and Nicole helped out by running the sale before their class!

A welcome back and invitation social was held for all members of the society, including sophomore associate members and two students eligible for new membership. A donut eating competition was held between the seniors, juniors, sophomore associate members, and eligible students. Being outnumbered by many, Nick, who represented our eligible members, came out on top!

On Tuesday, the members of our society gave an informal presentation to freshmen civil-engineering majors about how to “survive” in civil engineering. Each member of the freshmen class was also given a mentor (one of our members) to assist them throughout the semester. We look forward to getting to know our students!

Our junior members were inducted into TCNJ’s Civil Engineering Honors Society this semester. These members have met all of the qualifications and criteria to become a member of our selective society. At the ceremony, family members, trustees, and others all joined in celebration with the initiates. Notably, Mrs. Kemper was able to attend the ceremony and give a lovely speech to all that attended. We thank Mrs. Kemper for her kind words and support of our society.

Last Monday, Professor Dobbelaar visited TCNJ and met with our current members and Executive Board. Professor Dobbelaar talked to us about what we can improve on as a society and shared his valuable experiences with us. He was kind enough to help out our society in more ways than one. Our members enjoyed showing Professor Dobbelaar around the Civil Engineering facilities that TCNJ has to offer.

Civil engineering students and faculty celebrated the holidays at our holiday party with free pizza and cookies. Holiday Bingo was also played, where students and faculty won prizes such as candy, chocolates, and festive hand sanitizers.

CEHS participated in the campus-wide event, TCNJ Holiday, this past Tuesday night. Our society came up with a civil-engineering related craft for TCNJ students and faculty to make at the event. People seemed very happy making their very own mini gingerbread houses, especially our advisor, Dr. Krstic!

CEHS has been hosting a peanut butter and jelly and grilled cheese fundraiser in the Armstrong lobby over the past few weeks. People have been excited about getting a made-to-order grilled cheese as well as a combo, which includes a sandwich, a bag of chips, and a bottle of water. We hope to raise more money for our society as this semester comes to a close.

TCNJ Civil Engineering and CEHS Alumni, Lauren Santullo and Alberto Torres, came back to TCNJ to give a presentation about Senior Projects and Graduate School. CEHS was proud to host this event to help educate current civil engineering students about their upcoming future. Our members (and our advisor, Dr. Krstic) were very happy to see and catch up with Lauren and Alberto.
