We are currently working on implementing tutoring sessions as a service that our society can provide for underclassmen. This service strives to share and spread knowledge in courses specific to the civil engineering curriculum. Further, we hope to unite the civil engineering community at TCNJ by making the bonds across the classes stronger year after year. It seems like the sessions have been successful so far.
Last week, our accepted pledges ran for executive board positions for the upcoming semester. These members will assume their roles in January. Congratulations to our new E-Board!

Last week, all CEHS members participated in pledge week by dressing up and wearing badges identifying us as CEHS members or pledges. The purpose of pledge week is to show pride in our accomplishments and be proud of the organization we are a part of. Congratulations to our 8 pledges!
On November 7, CEHS and ITE co-sponsored the Technology-Driven Transportation Systems’s Management & Operations (TSMO) Seminar. Our guest speaker for the seminar was C. William Kingsland, the Assistant Commissioner at NJDOT. We thank him for sharing his knowledge on the upcoming advancements and technology goals NJDOT has planned for the future.
As an act of service, each of our junior members has made a donation to make a loan through Kiva, a non-profit organization. This year, our members decided to loan their money to Tiên from Vietnam to help pay for tuition and school supplies for her children. The TCNJ CEHS Kiva account hopes to get its loan repaid so that next year’s new members can continue to help others around the world one loan at a time.

CEHS teamed up with NSPE in co-sponsoring a technical seminar today! The guest speaker for the seminar was Stephen Buente, the Senior Supervising Engineer at WSP. We would like to thank him for coming to speak at our college and sharing his knowledge with future engineers.
Our senior and junior members participated in a pumpkin carving competition during our Halloween Social on October 25th. The seniors decided to get creative with their use of materials while the juniors went for a more clever approach. The competition was too close to call!

A successful bake sale was held on October 23rd thanks to the planning and organization of our new members. The money raised will help fund future events for the society.
Over the past couple of weeks, our members have been taking shifts and selling chips in Armstrong’s lobby. Due to the removal of the kineticart, there is no food for students between classes unless you go to the Student Center or Eickhoff. From Dorito’s to Cheetos, we have it all!

On October 1st, our members gathered at Armstrong Hall to collect trash that had been littered throughout TCNJ’s campus. In order to complete their volunteer hours, new members and associate members walked along side e-board members for two hours. The members were split into two groups of five and walked along the loop and sidewalks of the campus. From 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM, our members were able to fill up plenty of trash bags! Starting off a Sunday right by giving back to our college community!
